| PASCO COUNTY
Welcome
by Larry Beasley
Pasco County is a beautiful, centrally located and
family-friendly area of Florida with available land,
affordable housing, new shopping venues and attractions for
residents of every age. For the avid golfer or the
first-timer, Pasco County offers more than 25 lush golf
courses. If you enjoy biking, hiking and horseback riding,
there are multiple trails and parks to choose from.
Pasco County is close to the Gulf of Mexico and the
Pithlachascotee, Hillsborough and Withlacoochee rivers -
perfect for boating, fishing and camping. Traveling between
counties for work, shopping, dining or recreation has become
faster and more convenient than ever, thanks to expressways
like the Suncoast Parkway. Its one of Florida's
fastest-growing counties for home buyers.
A NEW PLACE TO CALL HOME
by Art Levy
Everywhere you look in Pasco County, you see something new.
New homes. New schools. New Roads. New stores. New people.
Lots and lots of new people to be exact.
In 2002, for example, Pasco's population growth was ranked
100th of 3,141 counties in the United States.
UP, UP AND AWAY
by Art Levy
Pick one or pick them all. Pasco County's many amenities
have helped fuel the county's status as one of the nation's
fastest growing communities. Newcomers, attracted by new and
improved roads, and unspoiled rural atmosphere and affordable
housing, are pouring into the county in unprecedented numbers.
Nearly 6,000 single-family homes were constructed in the
county in 2003 alone. That's the most ever in a single year.
And the boom shows no sign of fading away.
The county still features abundant land and the opportunity
for more growth.
The Suncoast Parkway, which links Pasco County with the
Tampa Bay area, has enabled thousands of people to live in
Pasco and commute to Tampa, St. Petersburg and Clearwater.
Check out Pasco's East side, just North of the Hillsborough
County line. New shopping centers, anchored by major stored
like Target, Wal-Mart, Sam's Club and The Home Depot, line the
roads, with the promise of more retail development to come.
The region's biggest shopping center, in fact, is planned
for Pasco County, with the construction expected to start in
2005. The giant Cypress Creek Town Center will be even bigger
than Tampa's International Plaza and Bay Street.
New schools are being built. New banks, restaurants and
markets are opening every month. but Pasco County isn't just
about being a booming bedroom community. Residents love it for
its natural beauty and recreational opportunities, too.
The county is crisscrossed with rivers, lakes and streams
prized by boaters, water skiers, canoeists and kayakers.
There's plenty of fresh-water fishing, bird watching and
camping, as well.
And there's also the Gulf of Mexico, with its beaches,
boating and fishing. In short, there's plenty to like about
Pasco County.
